Invitation: Pacific Institute for Climate
Solutions (PICS), SFU & UBC Free Public Lecture
Lecture #4: Creating a Climate for Change
Dr. Simon Donner and Dr. Alex Clapp
will speak at a free Public Lecture Series presented by the Pacific Institute
for Climate Solutions (PICS), in collaboration with UBC and SFU. This lecture, Creating a Climate for Change, will
explore scientific and social factors that influence the public's uncertainty
about climate change, including socio-cultural barriers such as long-held
beliefs that weather is beyond human control.
Dr. Donner of UBC will present “Why you don't
believe in climate change.” Dr. Clapp of SFU will follow with a
presentation titled “Open data: Diagnosis, prognosis, and prescription in
climate science."

Hosted and led by the University of Victoria, PICS is a unique collaboration among BC’s four research intensive universities--University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria.
